This acknowledgement of culture is crucial to our people and our kingdom because it outlines the measures that various groups must take to reconstruct what has been lost. It's no secret that many of our most esteemed and knowledgeable traditional tattoo artists (Sak) perished from disease or famine during the Khmer Rouge era. The Federation Khmer Sak Yantra works hard to recreate the wealth of knowledge that the surviving masters have preserved and to recover our history in the post-Khmer Rouge era. But as many of these masters are now in their 80s and 90s, it is essential to include the cycle and regeneration of new Ajaa in order to preserve Khmer Sak Yant for future generations to practice and comprehend.
